Therapeutic indications

short-term treatment of occasional constipation.


Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. Laxatives are contraindicated in patients with acute abdominal pain or unexplained nausea or vomiting, intestinal obstruction or stenosis, rectal bleeding of unknown origin, severe dehydration. Generally contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation (see p. 4.6). Contraindicated in children under 10 years.


The correct dose is the minimum sufficient to produce an easy evacuation of soft stools. And 'advisable to use initially the planned minimal doses. When necessary, the dose may be increased, but without exceeding the maximum indicated. Taken preferably in the evening. Laxatives should be used as infrequently as possible and for not more than seven days. Use for longer periods of time requires a doctor's prescription after proper assessment of the individual case. Ingest together with an appropriate amount of water. A diet rich in fluids supports the effect of the medicine. Take the tea prepared in the manner described below: put in a cup of tea 1 bag of 2 g or 1-2 sachets of 1.3 g of herbal tea Kelemata; pour over boiling water and leave to infuse for 10-15 minutes. Do not exceed the recommended dose.

Warnings and Precautions

Warnings. The abuse of laxatives (frequent or prolonged use or excessive doses) can cause persistent diarrhea leading to loss of water, minerals (especially potassium) and other essential nutritional factors. In more severe cases it is possible to the onset of dehydration or hypokalemia which may cause cardiac dysfunction or neuromuscular, especially in the case of simultaneous treatment with cardiac glycosides, diuretics or corticosteroids. The abuse of laxatives, especially those contact (stimulant laxatives) can cause addiction (and, therefore, possible need to increase the dosage), chronic constipation and loss of normal bowel function (intestinal atony). Precautions for use. In children under the age of 12 years the medicine can be used only after consulting your doctor. The treatment of chronic or recurrent constipation always requires medical attention for diagnosis, the prescription of drugs and monitoring during therapy. Consult your doctor when the need of a laxative derives from a sudden change in bowel habits previous (frequency and characteristics of evacuation) lasting more than two weeks or when the use of a laxative fails to produce effects. It 'also appropriate that the elderly or in poor health should consult your doctor before using this medicine.


Laxatives can reduce the residence time in the intestine, and, then, the absorption, of other simultaneously administered oral medications. Avoid, then ingesting laxatives and other drugs at the same time: after taking a medicine to leave an interval of at least two hours before taking the laxative. Milk or antacids may alter the effect of the medicinal product; leave an interval of at least one hour before taking the laxative.

Side effects

Occasionally: isolated or cramping abdominal colic, more frequent in cases of severe constipation. With the use of the product, the urine sometimes are colored slightly yellow-brown or red. This coloring is due simply to the presence in urine of components of senna and is not clinically significant.

Pregnancy and lactation

There are no adequate and well controlled studies on the use of the medicine during pregnancy or during breastfeeding. Therefore, the product should be used only when needed, under the direct supervision of a doctor, after evaluating the expected benefit to the mother in relation to the possible risk to the fetus or nursing infant.
