Description
Ready-to-use sterile hydrophilic self-lubricating catheter NO TOUCH, for intermittent catheterization. Due to its characteristics, Actreen Lite is easy to use, light, compact and safe. It makes emptying the bladder simple and safe anywhere. The packaging, in a single wrapper, makes it extremely practical and easy to handle and immediate use.
The "NO TOUCH" sheath also ensures the possibility of carrying out a truly safe catheterization, even in situations where there is no possibility of taking advantage of an adequate standard of hygiene.
The catheter is simple to prepare as it is sufficient to remove the sheath at the base of the connector and the one at its end. Once this operation has been carried out, the catheter is ready for use.
Actreen Lite consists of a Nelaton or Tiemann type PVC catheter with a hydrophilic coating made up of glycerine and water, ready for use. The hydrophilic coating eliminates activation times and guarantees a reduced friction coefficient for the entire duration of catheterization, allowing for easy and safe insertion and atraumatic extraction.
The high hydration of the coating avoids any risk of adhesion of the catheter to the urethral wall; this is particularly advantageous during the extraction maneuver in subjects who, due to particular functional limitations, require long times to carry out the self-catheterization maneuver.
The catheter appears completely and uniformly lubricated, ready for use and without the need for other additional maneuvers aimed at inducing lubrication (activation of the hydrophilic substrate). Thanks to the hygroscopic effect of glycerin, the lubricant of B. Braun catheters maintains its hydration level unchanged for more than an hour.
Features atraumatic holes with smooth beveled corners to allow urine to flow quickly. The heat-sealed and pre-cut polyethylene sheath allows you to manage the catheter without touching it with your hands (NO TOUCH technique). This sheath allows a better grip of the catheter by all users, even those with poor manual dexterity, and promotes a reduction in possible bacterial contamination during the catheterization maneuver. The end of the catheter has a cone that can be connected to normal urine collection bags.
Removal of the sheath at both the distal and proximal ends is facilitated by the presence of special eyelets, which allow easy removal even for users with limited manual dexterity. The sheath has an additional pre-cut portion near the base of the catheter, in the female version and at 2/3 of the length of the catheter, in the male version. There is therefore the possibility of removing a larger portion of the sheath in the event that the user's poor manual dexterity makes it difficult to fold the sheath on itself during catheterization.
