Amorolfina Sandoz Medicated Enamel Sandoz Medicament From Mushrooms
Treatment of onychomycosis caused by dermatophytes, yeasts or molds, without involvement of the nail matrix in adults.
Indications
Amorolfina Sandoz nail polish is a medicament for external use against nail infections caused by fungi (mycosis).
Amorolfina Sandoz nail polish is used without the need for a medical prescription for the treatment of nail fungus localized to the anterior and lateral edges of the nails, in the event that there are no more than two sick nails.
If, on the other hand, the infection affects a larger surface than just the anterior and lateral margin, it is necessary to consult a doctor.
Nail mycosis is commonly characterized by a white, yellow, or brown discoloration and thickening of the nail, while the appearance of the actual infestation can vary.
Composition
Active principles
Each 2.5 ml bottle contains 139.3 mg of amorolfine hydrochloride equivalent to 125 mg of amorolfine.
Excipients
Anhydrous ethanol, Ammonium methacrylate copolymer (type A), Ethyl acetate, Butyl acetate, Triacetin.
Method of use and dosage
Nail polish should be applied to the affected nails of the fingers or toes once a week.
Method of administration
For topical use. To be applied on the affected nails.
Before each application, file the affected nail area (especially the nail surface) as thoroughly as possible with a nail file supplied in the package. The nail surface must be cleaned and degreased using one of the pads soaked in nail polish remover (supplied in the package).
Before repeating the next application of Amorolfina Sandoz medicated nail polish, this filing and cleaning process must be repeated, in order to remove the existing residual polish. Attention! The nail files used for the treatment should not be used for healthy nails.
With a spatula provided, apply the polish on the entire surface of the diseased nail and let it dry. For each nail to be treated, dip the spatula into the nail polish.
Attention! The spatula should not be rubbed on the edge of the bottle. After use, clean the spatula with the swab dipped in nail polish remover.
After the application of Amorolfina Sandoz medicated nail polish, an interval of at least 10 minutes must be respected before applying a cosmetic polish.
It is important to wash your hands after applying Amorolfina Sandoz medicated nail polish.
If Amorolfina Sandoz medicated nail polish is applied to the fingers of the hand, patients should wait until the fingers are dry before washing their hands.
Duration of treatment
The treatment should be continued without interruption until the nail has regenerated and the affected area is completely healed.
In general, it takes 6 months of therapy for fingernails and 9 to 12 months for toenails (the duration of treatment essentially depends on the intensity, location and extent of the infection).
After a 3-month treatment with no results, consult your doctor.
Pediatric population
Due to lack of clinical experience, children and adolescents should not be treated with Amorolfina Sandoz medicated nail polish.
Senior citizens
There are no specific dosage recommendations for use in elderly patients.
Warnings
While applying Amorolfina Sandoz, artificial nails should not be used.
In case of using organic solvents, it is good to wear waterproof gloves so as not to remove the Amorolfina Sandoz layer on the nails, otherwise it will be removed. After the application of Amorolfina Sandoz medicated nail polish, an interval of at least 10 minutes must be respected before applying a cosmetic polish (if desired).
However, with repeated use of Amorolfina Sandoz medicated nail polish, any applied polish should be removed before applying a new coat of Amorolfina Sandoz medicated nail polish.
Due to lack of clinical experience, children and adolescents should not be treated with Amorolfina Sandoz medicated nail polish. Avoid all contact of the enamel with eyes, ears and mucous membranes. Treatment must be established by the doctor in the case of patients suffering from peripheral vascular diseases, diabetes, diseases of the immune system, as well as in patients with nail dystrophy or severely damaged nails (with lesions greater than two thirds of the nail plate).
In these cases, systemic therapy should be envisaged. Patients with a past history of lesions, skin conditions such as psoriasis or other chronic skin conditions, edema, respiratory disturbances (Yellow Nail Syndrome), sore nails, distorted / deformed nails or other symptoms should seek medical attention before starting treatment.
