Askina Sorb is a sterile, primary wound dressing made from fibers containing 85% calcium alginate and 15% carboxymethylcellulose (CMC). When in contact with the exudate, the alginate-CMC fibers gel quickly creating the ion exchange between the calcium ions of the dressing and the sodium ions of the exudate, to form a moist, soft gel that promotes natural healing.
Conformable and easy to apply. It has a high absorption capacity. It forms a soft gel that can be removed in one piece, without residue. Vertical absorption process: no lateral barriers, designed to avoid tearing of the edge of the lesions. Atraumatic dressing removal.
Askina Sorb is indicated for the treatment of moderately to heavily exuding wounds such as pressure ulcers, venous and arterial leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, donor sites, traumatic injuries, abrasions, second degree burns and post-operative wounds.

Warnings

Askina Sorb should not be used for surgical implantology or for the treatment of third degree burns. The simultaneous use of topical agents, such as antiseptics and antibiotics with Askina Sorb is not indicated because some of these agents can induce reactions even when used alone. Therefore, their use with Askina Sorb can reduce or prevent its beneficial effect. Askina Sorb is not very effective when applied to very dry or necrotic lesions. Do not use if the package is damaged or open.
