Non-adhesive super-absorbent sterile dressing for moderately to highly exuding wounds composed of a highly absorbent hydrocapillary pad, bordered by a hydrocolloid layer which prevents skin maceration. This is in turn fixed to a microporous and protective layer in TNT which guarantees a delicate interface in contact with the periwound skin, allowing the internal hydrocolloid layer to absorb any loss of exudate.
The swab also has a non-adherent crosslinked polyethylene (HDPE) interface with the wound bed. HDPE acts to maintain the correct degree of moisture in the wound (moist but not wet) and prevents adhesion between the dressing surface and the wound bed.
The hydrocapillary pad is composed of polyethylene, cellulose fibers (CMC) and SAP (Sodium Polyacrylate Super Absorbent Particles). The "hydrocapillary" effect is given by the instantaneous, vertical and horizontal absorption of the exudate. In fact, the cellulose and SAP polymers, in contact with the exudate released from the lesion, change phase by gelling, so as to retain the exudate inside the pad even under compression.
The external layer in polyurethane film with high oxygen permeability creates a barrier against exogenous bacteria and external pollutants and ensures high breathability.

Directions
Medium to highly exuding acute and chronic skin lesions.
Average dwell time (medium to highly exuding wounds and ulcers): 3 days.
Maximum time spent on site: 7 days.

Contraindications and incompatibilities
In case of allergic reactions, please contact Coloplast for information on components. Biatain dressings and secondary dressings must be removed before radioactive treatment (X-ray, ultrasound, diathermy and microwave treatment). Do not use Biatain dressings with oxidizing solutions such as hypochlorite and hydrogen peroxide.

Sterilization
Biatain Super Non-Adhesive Hydrocapillary Dressing is beta-ray sterilized, at a minimum dose of 2.5 Mrad. The lot number and expiry date appear on each package.
