Glycerol Carlo Erba Adults what it is used for
Glycerol, the active ingredient in this medicine, is used to facilitate the elimination of faeces.
The laxative effect is obtained thanks to the ability of glycerol to soften the stool and to cause a slight local irritant action that stimulates bowel movements. This medicine is indicated for the symptomatic relief of occasional and transient constipation.

Composition of Glycerol Carlo Erba Adults
Glycerol Carlo Erba contains: Active ingredient: Glycerol 2250 mg
Excipients: Sodium stearate - Sodium carbonate.
Dosage and method of use of Glycerol Carlo Erba Adults
Glycerol Carlo Erba is administered according to the following doses

Adults and adolescents (12-18 years): 1 adult suppository as needed, for a maximum of 1 or 2 doses per day.
Remove the suppository from its container and then, if necessary, moisten it to facilitate its rectal introduction. If the suppositories appear soft, immerse the containers, before opening them, in cold water.
Contraindications with the use of Glycerol Carlo Erba Adults
- Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
- Acute abdominal pain or of unknown origin,
- Nausea or vomiting
- Intestinal obstruction or stricture
- Rectal bleeding of unknown origin
- Acute hemorrhoidal crisis with pain and bleeding
- Severe state of dehydration.
Special warnings for the use of Glycerol Carlo Erba Adults
Laxatives should be used as infrequently as possible and for no more than seven days. Use for longer periods of time requires a doctor's prescription after adequate evaluation of the individual case. The treatment of chronic or recurrent constipation always requires the intervention of the doctor for the diagnosis, the prescription of drugs and the surveillance during the course of therapy.
