What is Ibifen for
Ibifen is a drug based on the active ingredient Ketoprofen, belonging to the category of NSAID analgesics and specifically derivatives of propionic acid. It is marketed in Italy by the company Polifarma SpA.
Ibifen can be prescribed with OTC Prescription - over-the-counter non-prescription medicines.
Ibifen is used for the therapy and treatment of various diseases and pathologies such as rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, arthrosis, phlebitis, gout, herpes zoster, systemic lupus erythematosus, fibrocystic mastopathy, Paget's disease, mumps, pleurisy, polyposis, sciatica, scleroderma, syndrome temporo-mandibular, Tendinitis, Tendinitis, Thyroiditis, Chickenpox.
Indications for use of Ibifen
Pain of various origins and nature (headache, toothache, neuralgia, osteoarticular and muscle pain, menstrual pain).
Dosage for Ibifen
The recommended dosage is as follows: 20 - 30 drops are recommended, 3-4 times a day (20 drops = 1 ml) The drops should be taken in a little water, preferably during meals.
The use of the medicinal product is reserved for adult patients only.
Undesirable effects can be minimized by using the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible duration of treatment needed to control symptoms (see section 4.4).
Special populations and Ibifen
- Patients with renal insufficiency and the elderly
- It is advisable to reduce the starting dose and practice maintenance therapy with the lowest effective dose. Individualized adjustments can be considered only after establishing good tolerability of the drug (see section 5.2).
- Patients with hepatic insufficiency
- Patients with mild or moderate hepatic impairment should be followed closely and treated with the lowest effective daily dose (see sections 4.3, 4.4 and 5.2).
- Pediatric population
- The safety and efficacy of ketoprofen have not been studied in children.
Contraindications with the use of Ibifen
Ibifen 25 mg / ml oral drops solution is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity reactions, such as bronchospasm, asthma attacks, rhinitis, hives or other allergic-type reactions,
Ibifen in Pregnancy
The use of ketoprofen during the first and second trimester of pregnancy should be avoided.
Inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis can adversely affect pregnancy and / or embryo / fetal development.
