Excipients

Therapeutic indications

Mucolytic, fluidifying in acute and chronic respiratory diseases.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. Gastroduodenal ulcer. Pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Dosage

Adults: 2-3 tablespoons per day. This dose can be increased according to a doctor's prescription.

Warnings and Precautions

The increase in sputum, which can be observed from the first days and demonstrates the lysis of pathological secretions, fades rapidly. The medicine contains methyl para-hydroxy benzoate which can cause allergic reactions, even delayed ones. This medicine contains 22.5 g of sucrose per dose. To be taken into consideration in people with diabetes mellitus.

Interactions

No interactions with other medicines are known.

Side effects

The following may occur: dizziness, gastralgia, nausea, diarrhea. In such cases it is necessary to reduce the dosage. In addition, allergic skin rashes and anaphylactic reactions, fixed erythema may occur. In such cases, stop the treatment and consult your doctor to establish a suitable therapy.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Although the active substance is neither teratogenic nor mutagenic and has not shown negative effects on reproductive function in animals, no data are available on its use in human pregnancy. Therefore, the use of the medicinal product is contraindicated in pregnancy. Since there are no data on the passage of carbocysteine into breast milk, the use of the medicinal product is contraindicated during breastfeeding.
