Permafoam Classic Hartmann Polyurethane Foam Dressing

The recommended dressings that have proved most effective are protective dressings such as hydrocolloid or polyurethane foam to be placed under medical devices.

Where to place the dressing

If the operator wears face masks, the dressing must be placed on the back of the nose and on the cheekbones, if protective goggles are worn it must be positioned at the level of the forehead, as indicated in the exemplary AISLEC drawing.

Both proposed solutions (Hydrocoll Thin and Permafoam Classic) allow the dressing to be cut without affecting its correct functioning.

It is important to remember to smooth the corners when cutting the dressing.

Procedure for applying the dressing

• Cleanse the skin as usual;
• Dry carefully, dabbing;
• Choose the protective dressing by evaluating the skin, the site and the specific needs of the healthcare professional;
• Shape the dressing, smoothing the corners and, if necessary, cut it to the most suitable size for use
• Apply the dressing avoiding wrinkles or air bubbles to ensure adherence and stability in all areas in contact with the PPE;
• Wear the PPE as per procedure making sure not to move the protective dressing;
• Upon removal, in case of hydrocolloid use, lift one edge and pull creating a tangential tension to the dressing itself and remove it gently, avoiding tearing;
• Cleanse and moisturize the skin.
