Warnings and precautions
Sodium salts should be administered with caution in patients with hypertension, heart failure, peripheral or pulmonary edema, impaired renal function, pre-eclampsia, or other conditions associated with sodium retention (see Interactions).
The solution must be clear, colorless and free of visible particles.
Use immediately after opening the container and make sure that the preparation takes place in the shortest possible time in conditions and according to procedures that preserve the sterility of the solution as much as possible. Any residual unused medicine must be discarded.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.
Although no effects on the development of the fetus have been highlighted, the medicine should be administered only in case of actual need and only after evaluating the risk/benefit ratio.
The medicine is compatible with breastfeeding.

Possible side effects
Like all medicines, sodium chloride can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Undesirable effects following the administration of sodium chloride are mainly attributable to disorders of the water and electrolyte balance (hypernatremia, hyperchloremia, hypervolemia) and problems relating to the administration site (infection at the infusion site, pain or local reaction, venous irritation, venous thrombosis or phlebitis extending from the site of infusion, extravasation).

Compliance with the instructions contained in the leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.
